There are many different dances that fall under the subject of latin dancing.The roots for most of these exciting rhythms come manly from africa. And the latin-american countries.
There are five main dances used in this country.These are as follows
rumba
samba
cha cha cha
paso doble
jive
They were first introduced into europe from around 1913 onwards.
Cha cha cha was the most recent of the dances to be seen in europe.
This dance was seen from around the start of the 1950‘s
Many steps used in salsa originated from one of these dances.
Elements of movement
Body action is very important in the movement of each dance.
The interpretation of each dance is very different due to the rhythm and timing of the dances
Within each of the dances there is also many different beat values given. This helps to gbring light and shade into the dances.
Most dances start on the count of one but for rumba and cha cha cha count two is used
In general there are no heal leads used in latin dancing with the exception of the paso doble where heals are used due to the nature of the dance.
