Disco dancing has been around for many years.
You can dance freestyle or as double’s, trio’s or even as a team.
Disco dancing really took off in this country at the end of the 1970‘s
This was mainly due to a film released at the time called Saturday night fever
Who would of known at the time how much of an influence john travolta would become in the disco dancing scene.
Over night disco dancing was popular
again .
Every one in the dance clubs and disco’s wanted to dance the moves he had made popular in the film.
Many of the steps were easy to pick up and so the dance teachers took over putting together more complicated routines.
over the last few years the term freestyle has replaced disco due to the direction this type of dance has taken over this time,
Freestyle has moved on from the very basic steps first danced in the discotheques.
Freestyle is now has many more moving steps which travel around the dance floor.
This includes movements like hops, skips runs and jumps with many spins also included.
Every part of the body is now used from fingers to toes.
Even the costumes now play an important part to show of the movement of the body.
Disco dancing is manly counted in eight count timing.
