Line Salsa & Latin is a new form of Line dancing using Salsa and Latin rhythms danced to modern music. It's a great way to meet new people without needing a partner. You can learn to dance the many styles of Latin dancing including Rumba, Samba, Jive and the popular Cha Cha to great music including tracks from Abba.
the word Salsa has been used for a long time in Cuba as a synonym for hot latin american music.It’s said salsa is not a new rhythm, but instead cuban music with a new name.
Nowadays of course cuban music is also played outside cuba. Modern salsa was developed from emmigrants from cuba and latinos from latin america creating a form of cuban music with jazz and disco as added ingredients.. Salsa music is a spectrum of a variety of pulsating rhythms..To express salsa music with interesting dance movements many basics and figures are adopted from traditional or established dance styles with some new Elements of movement
The salsa footwork is ball flat ( inside edge), but with very fast tempi ball. The toes of feet are slightly turned out.
Generally the person taking leads the lady through the points of body contact. Each partner is concerned with his/her own balance. The lady’s movement should be influenced by the person taking thelead. it is important to lead visually by using body action.
Salsa timing can be complex due to the different tempo’s.
Salsa uses 4/4 timing, with beat 4 being silent due to the wait in the music which becomes 1,2,3, wait 5,6,7 wait.
